FANS of the Danish Department Q franchise all have their favourite of the six films released to date.
The amazing thing, which speaks to the overall quality, is that three of the films are mentioned as being that favourite.
Possibly the most often cited is 2016’s third film, A Conspiracy of Faith, which has the same writers but a different director to the previous two entries.
An eight year-old message in a bottle, written in blood, leads Detective Carl Morck and his assistant investigator Assad to a series of child abductions from religious communities throughout Denmark.
Due to the closed nature of the communities many of the abductions were not reported, making investigations years later even harder.
Once again, the tried and true formula for these films is employed, with the mystery unfolding in present time as well as through extensive flashbacks..
The two aspects that set this entry aside are the even darker nature of the crimes depicted and the deepening of characterisations in the lead roles.
