Popeye the Slayer Man ★½

IT WILL take a lot of spinach to strengthen the script of B-grade horror film Popeye the Slayer Man.

I gather that, like Winnie the Pooh, the copyright protection on using the Popeye character’s name has also recently run out.

Unfortunately, what this also means is a race to see who can get the film out fastest, resulting in some very poor output.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was probably as close as you can get to being terrible. But it must have made just enough money to warrant a sequel.

Because they presumably had a little more time and money at their disposal , Blood and Honey II was an improvement.

Perhaps the same will happen for a Popeye the Slayer Man sequel because it will be coming from an extremely low bar.
